Mauricio Cortez
Managing Partner
Mauricio founded WSCPI in 2012 and is responsible for sourcing new deal investment opportunities, making investment decisions and day-to-day management in our private investments throughout their lifecycles. He is a founder and board member for all our Portfolio Companies and is actively involved with the management teams. Prior to founding WSCPI, Mauricio was a Senior Level Management Consultant for over 30 years with his own firm the MJC Consulting Group, Inc., where he personally led the implementation of business solutions for many of the World’s largest companies, as well as small and medium enterprises. Mauricioprovided strategic advice on buy-side, sell-side, leveraged buyout and minority investment transactions. He led new business development efforts, headed execution teams, and shared responsibility for the group’s P&L, recruiting and training. Mauricio has a proven and successful record for the start-up, growth and turnaround of troubled businesses, and has facilitated and advised on more than 100 M&A studies valued at over $100BN in total consideration. He has also raised more than $3BN of equity to support bids he has originated and led.
Susana Arellano
Partner
As a Partner at WSCPI, Susana sources and helps analyze new investment opportunities in multiple international markets and industry segments. Susana pursued her education in political sciences and a career in international diplomatic relations. She started working for the US Embassy in Quito, Ecuador, South America, where she got her first glimpse inside the diplomatic world, and quickly developed to be a seasoned administrator and negotiator. Susana led in the participation of other Latin American countries improvement of U.S. diplomatic relations through official Government social functions and events with Ambassadors, Consuls, Diplomatic Corps, and other government officials and dignitaries, and was at the epicenter in the shifting landscape with the development efforts to include Ecuador as being part of theLatin American Free Trade Association to foster trust and mutual regional trade among the member states, with the U.S. and Europe. Now retired, Susana pursues her early dreams of occasionally moonlighting with her passion as a fashion formalwear couture designer, and staying true to her belief of transforming women’s style and by transforming their style, to give women the confidence to transform their lives.
With a truly diverse skill set of applied protocol, Susana also serves as the Chair of Corporate Governance and the Diplomatic Affairs Board of WSCPI.
Ted Herman
CFO
Ted analyzes new investment opportunities for WSCPI. He is a management consultant specializing in finance, marketing and management with special emphasis on companies seeking to become publicly trading. From 1966 to 1977 he was a CPA with his own accounting, tax and management services firm. From 1977 to 1989 he was Vice President Finance and General Manager for several small firms, mostly those in the start-up or turn around phase. From 1989 to present he has been associated with several investment banking firms evaluating the potential of companies, arranging for financing and preparing them to become publicly trading. Ted graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1963 with a BS degree in Accounting and Business Management.
Todd Fite
Chief of Staff
Todd has been in the real estate finance industry for over 13 years. He completed over $100,000,000 in mortgage origination since 2012 and over the years has established an extensive client base. Finding just the right fit for each particular situation is his area of expertise.
With a primary objective of retaining lifelong relationships, he consistently meets and exceeds his client’s expectations. He has built his reputation on a foundation of integrity and trust, and his passion for finance is evidenced by his consistent dedication and loyalty to his clients and to the industry.
Todd graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Business and Marketing, and holds his California Department of Real Estate license.
Malena Cortes
CMO
As the Chief Marketing Officer at WSCPI, Malena is responsible for the development of our marketing and partnering programs, brand management, and corporate sponsorships. Prior to joining WSCPI, she worked as an actress in documentaries and other film, and TV projects. She also produced a television show named TV Guia Tours, in Ecuador, as well as held positions in strategic business development and marketing at several US companies, including the Miami New Times since 2010. Notable is her last five years of experience as President of Melbeco Online Marketing, where she directed major sponsorships and other online marketing and partnering initiatives.
Malena’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach. As the CEO at a Public Speaking academy in Ecuador, she is also a frequent and highly rated, and requested bi-lingual (Spanish/English) speaker on industry related topics.
Malena holds a degree in visual communications from John Logie Baird College in Lima Peru.
